... comes to pass in September. Or almost, if this "Snap Analysis" from Reuters is accurate:
Adopting the G20 as the new economic steering committee raises questions over the whether or not the Group of Eight, which makes up the world's industrial countries, will eventually be faded out. Diplomats said the G8 would continue to function but would focus on non-economic issues.
Of course, I'd rather they just declare victory and bury the G8 altogether, if for no better reason than to save lots of travel money. Huntsville, Ontario, site of the 2010 gathering, will just have to add an extra 12 spaces at the table. No point in continuing what had become a "rich (mostly white) man's club" when the rich men had to admit that they didn't have a clue on how to organize the world's economy.
